Am I right in thinking they now have only 1 game left against CSKA and if they lose that they don't even get into the Europa?
If True that is the best news I've heard all week.
Can't understand the logic of "resting" key defenders for a must win game in the champions league. Do they seriously think they are going to win the League ?

...and they can probably write the cost off as a business expense, too, so the taxpayer foots the bill, but...
...not by as much as they do for that place we got in Stratford that the desert wanderers didn't.

The sort of people who would pay that (corporates) will only go to midweek Champions league games against big teams as Infidel says. People like that that I know don't do football at the weekend. It's a midweek business thing with clients

That's bonkers, Infidel. £7,800! About time they had another riot up there & scared all the millionaires away.
Am the same with Spurs. A defeat for them is the first result I look for.

This result is going to fire a torpedo into Tottenham's financial plans.
On Saturday I got dragged along by my STH mate to the 'marketing presentation' of the new stadium (I tried to get out of it, believe me).
Essentially THFC is trying to get the STHs to upgrade their STs into a new premium package at the new stadium, which includes an exclusive 'sky bar' with unlimited food and drink at every match and a good seat mid way up near the half way line.
I sat through the whole marketing pitch (which includes VR goggles to test the view from your seat and a surround sound mini cinema).
They want a staggering £7,800 a year for these premium packages - and you have to commit to three years minimum. Jesus wept.
With 8,000 of the premium packages to sell Levy is trying to recoup about £120million from wealthy STHs. It will fund about a third of the stadium build costs on its own.
The club has been a bit crafty because it won't tell the STHs how much the regular STs will be on a 'like for like' basis. What they told the group I was with was that the only way to guarantee now that you can sit with all your usual mates in the new stadium is to upgrade.
There was a lot of grumbling. The cost is astronomical. It works out to over £350 a game which is just too much for a game of football.
But the marketing johnnies in the blazers and ties kept emphasising that Tottenham is a Champions League club now, up there with the big clubs of Europe.
Well as it turns out, no it isn't. They're out in the group stages and playing Europa league on Thursday nights.
Again.
Tonight's result is going to make that marketing pitch a lot more difficult. £7,800 a year is already a lot when there's Champions League football to look forward to. But when it's Viking Stavanger coming instead of Real Madrid it's ridiculous.
Granted the new stadium doesn't open until August 2018 and a lot could happen in the interim, but tonight's elimination doesn't exactly build confidence.
I have to say I laughed out loud when I saw the result tonight. I'm old fashioned like that. I would support literally any foreign club against Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea or Manchester United. I would support the Osama Bin Laden Invitation XI against Tottenham. Their pain is my gain.
My bet is that at those prices Levy's 'sky bar' is going to be filled with arab sheikhs and russian oligarchs, who will turn up three or four times a season and not even bother to take their seats for the game.
Couldn't happen to a nicer club as they say.
Thank you Monaco!!

Well that is some consolation for the traumatic result at the Weekend. They put their strongest side out for us which is after all their cup final.
